Symphony in the Park

Every summer, the Portland Symphony does free concerts in different parks around Portland.  This has become something we look forward to going to each summer.  This year, we invited some friends to join us for a picnic dinner at Cathedral Park while listening to the symphony.  I love Cathedral Park because it is under the Saint John’s bridge, and it is beautiful to look up at the arches.  We had fun visiting and listening to the music, and the kids enjoyed the traditional final “kid participation” song where they each were given an instrument to play along with the symphony.  The best news for them was that they got to keep their recorder to bring it home.  It made for a bit of a noisy drive home, but we were still glad for the experience.
