Gingerbread House = Christmas

Landon has been super anxious to decorate a gingerbread house.  When I told him yesterday that it was finally time to decorate it, he said, “Does that mean tomorrow is Christmas?”  :)  I think part of the reason he was so excited was that he wanted to eat the candy.

Here are a few pictures of our decorating event:

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree!

Last Saturday, we went to cut down our Christmas tree.  I have been wanting to go to a Christmas tree farm since we moved here three years ago, but this was the first time we made the time to do it.  It was a lot of fun.

They had a duck pond in the middle of the Christmas tree farm.  Landon and Davis had fun seeing the geese and the ducks, although Davis got a little nervous when they would get too close to him!  He would let out a nice little girly scream.  Landon thought it was funny when they would peck at his boots.

Santa was also there in his sleigh.  You can see from the first picture that Davis wasn’t too thrilled about sitting on his lap.  So, we had Landon, Davis, and I all sit on his lap.  There’s a nice band of shade over my face, so maybe we can pretend I’m just not there.  Santa was really nice and asked Landon what he wanted for Christmas.  Landon told him a teddy bear.  I think that was because he got a teddy bear from a santa at a Christmas party last year.  Santa told Landon he would get him a couple of surprises too.  Landon was pretty excited about that.

Landon was trying to be a Christmas tree in this picture.  You can see his arms sticking out.  The other picture is us searching for just the right tree.

We finally found the perfect tree.  Shane cut it down while the boys wandered through the “forest.”  Davis especially liked sticking his boot in the gopher holes.

When we got home, we turned on some Jim Reeves Christmas and decorated our tree!  Landon did a great job putting the ornaments on.  After, we could see where he had worked – there were a bunch of ornaments all grouped together at Landon’s eye-level right in front of the tree.  I’m glad I didn’t rearrange things though, because both boys have since rearranged the ornaments many times on the tree.  It was a fun time!

Thanksgiving Fun

For Thanksgiving, we went to Ashland.  Mom had some delicious food, of course, and made everything go off smoothly as if she does this everyday.  Landon made some great place settings with everyone’s name on them too.  Stacey, Mom and I had quite a bit of success with our black Friday shopping, and I think we even got everything we wanted to.  Stacey and I always laughed because Mom would make friends with all the people in line while Stacey and I would run around the store bringing stuff to fill the cart.  We didn't go quite as long as last year - just from 5 to noon instead of 3, but it was still pretty tiring!  Stacey took some great pics of our family for our Christmas card, so it was nice to have that done too.  The most fun was just watching Landon, Davis, and Kallie all play together.  Kallie learned Landon's name pretty fast and seemed to like to follow him around.  She and Davis has tons of fun with Grandpa Landon’s old marble game.  I think they did that all day every day pretty much.  They would both just stand there, keeping the marbles going pretty constantly between the two of them.   It was a great vacation and hard to come back to real life!
