Thursday, Davis was home from school and bored, so I went to my Pinterest board for inspiration to keep James and him entertained while I worked. Their favorite activity was bubble blowing. They did it off and on most of the morning, blowing bubbles and playing with their hands in the bubbles.

Davis’s 5th Birthday
Friday, we celebrated Davis’s 5th birthday. He had been excited since after Christmas for his birthday to come, and kept asking how much longer it was until February 15th. He came running out of his room Friday morning as soon as he woke up, jumped up on the couch, and said, “It’s my birthday!” He got to be the snacker and bring sharing to school, so he was excited to bring his stuffed tiger to share and some Angry Birds crackers for snacks.
After school, we picked up some Wendy’s for lunch and met Shane at work. Davis had fun eating and playing a little ping pong for lunch. After school, the weather was really warm and nice, so the boys decided to play in the sandbox. They hadn’t done that for awhile.
For dinner, he requested pizza and macaroni and cheese. So healthy! Kelly came over, and we celebrated by eating some dinner, opening his presents from us, Kelly, and his grandparents, and eating cupcakes and ice cream.
Kelly reading Davis the card from him and Grandma and Grandpa Malan, and smiling after opening his sand cement truck from them:
Opening more presents: some Cars 2 Lego cars, an Angry Birds race track (from us), and some walkie-talkies from Gma and Gpa Morris:
The next morning, we had his birthday party with a couple of friends from preschool and church. He really wanted an Angry Birds Space party. We had some fun activities: Angry birds coloring page, made some Angry Birds out of little pompoms, flung some Angry Birds at some pigs, had an Angry Birds matching game, and finally, had an egg hunt for eggs the piggies stole.
That afternoon, after the party, the boys went outside to play in the cul-de-sac, and they had fun trying out the walkie-talkies. James especially was laughing pretty hard while talking to Shane. He would just say “Hi Dad,” then listen to whatever Shane said, then reply, “Hi Dad.”

A Valentine’s Day Knight
We had a nice Valentine’s day this year. Shane brought we home some beautiful tulips, and we had a fun dinner together as a family. For school that day, Davis had to dress as a knight, and the girls as princesses. He was not too excited about it, but he did let me take a picture of him. :) Luckily, our friends had a nice knight shirt to wear.

ABC Treasure Hunt
One day when Davis was home from school, we decided to do an ABC treasure hunt (idea thanks to Pinterest). He had fun finding things around the house that started with each letter. We used our Alphabet transformers to put by each letter. We had a little bit of a hard time finding something that started with X, but we finally found a picture of an X-ray to put on there.

January Happenings
The rest of January has been pretty low-key. Here are some of the highlights.
We finished The BFG, and started The Black Cauldron: (January 9)
Making letters with our bodies (not sure what James was, but Davis was an X and Landon was an L):
Making some salt/watercolor paintings: (January 23)
Writing our names with glue and cheerios: (January 24)
And a Valentine’s Day crafting session with our friends: (February 1)
We’ve enjoyed some especially warm days this past week, and we went on a walk to the park a few times and rode scooters in the cul-de-sac. We hope February has a lot more days outside!
