We spent the 4th of July in Ashland this year – the first time we’d been there for the 4th since Davis was a baby. Jake and Stacey and their family came with us, and Camille and Avery were already there. We had some surprise arrivals late Thursday night when Dave and Liz showed up at the door.
We started out the 4th with the Ashland parade – full of floats and people walking down the road that you definitely wouldn’t find in a parade anywhere else. We then made the trek down to the band shell to hear the band play in the park while eating our picnic lunch. Many of us had a nice nap a woke up to find another surprise arrival – Becky and Nate and their kids had made the trek down from Seattle too. The kids had fun playing on the trampoline, and then we all had some delicious barbecue food, followed by watching the fireworks at the college for finish off the day.
The kids played some Simon Says while waiting for the parade to start.
Thanks to Stacey for both of the family pictures!
The kids jumped on the trampoline with the sprinklers for quite awhile to keep cool. (Thanks Stacey for the last trampoline picture)
Asher, Maggie, and James had fun in the kiddie pool to keep cool. The older kids also watched the Lego Movie for a break.
Barbecue!
It was fun to all be there for the weekend – minus my dad who was gone in France. It’s always fun to spend some time together, even if it is for just a short day or two.
