After who knows how long, we finally finished reading the Book of Mormon. It was slow going reading just a few verses each night, but it was quite the accomplishment to know we had finished and made it through! We decided to have a Book of Mormon party for family night to celebrate. After browsing a few ideas on the internet (and finding the ones that were the simplest), we had a fun celebration with secret combination pizza and tree of life fruit salad for dinner, followed by the kids dressing up as one of their favorite BOM characters. Landon was Captain Moroni, Davis was Nephi, James was Ammon, Kallie was Moroni, Ethan was Samuel the Lamanite, and Maggie was Sariah.
We had them pick out pictures of their favorite BOM stories and we hung them up inside:
We talked about their favorite BOM stories and then watched a video of Christ visiting the Americas:
We recreated the “Tree of Life” dream and the kids followed along a rope for the iron rod, leading them to the “Tree of Life” with caramel corn popcorn balls hanging from it, courtesy of Stacey. The dads teased and taunted the kids as they walked along the iron rod, making for lots of giggles along the way.
