- He can crawl now, and has recently discovered that our house is quite bigger than just the living room, where he normally starts out playing. I have to keep the bathroom door shut as he usually starts to crawl that way for some reason, or he likes to get stuck in the corner of the living room by his toy basket.
- He loves to do the "down dog." Several times a day, he'll "stand up" with his legs on the ground still, usually looking under his legs to see what's behind him.
- He likes to tip over his toy basket. The basket sits about a foot off the ground, and he reaches up for it and pulls the whole thing over. Just last week, he puts his hands on the top of it, and instead of knocking it over, he stood up to it!
- His favorite thing to say is "na, na, na," although he also enjoys screaming at the top of his lungs, not because he's mad, but because he likes to hear his voice!
- One of his favorite games is to play "chase" with Shane and Landon. Landon runs around the house, and Shane holds Davis facing out, and they run after Landon. Both Davis and Landon laugh through the whole game.
- He also loves to laugh at anything his brother does!
- He is getting more and more diverse in his food eating, although he still seems to eat the bland rice cereal the best.
- He loves to smile at anyone and anything! Of course, the day I went to my friend's house to have her take his pictures, he was grouchy! Here are a few of the shots http://nfocusphotography.blogspot.com/2008/08/davis6-months.html . Lucky for me, we had a barbecue with her on Friday, and Davis was more his usual self, so she took a few more. 6 months (and 10 days) old
It's crazy, but last Friday, Davis turned six months old. I can't believe how fast the time has gone! We love having him in our family, and he and Landon have especially become best buddies over the past month as Davis has grown. It will be fun to see them enjoy being together as Davis gets older. We took Davis in for his six month appointment, and he weighed in at 19lbs 6 0z (80th percentile), and he was 27 inches long (75th percentile). He is about the exact same size that Landon was at this age. Here are some things about him:

Home Depot and Blackberry Shakes
For our exciting Saturday evening, we took the boys to Home Depot to pick up a few things. They had a blast riding around in the cart, and they were both laughing and smiling through the whole store (until Landon saw a Lightning Mcqueen lamp as we were checking out. It was downhill from there). I just had to get a picture.
On our way home, we stopped at Burgerville because it is Blackberry shake time! YUM! There's nothing like a Burgerville blackberry milkshake! We're definitely going to have to go again before the season is over!

Wilsonville Water Park
Yesterday, in order to combat the over 100 degree record temperatures here in Portland, we went to Wilsonville to the waterpark with our friends. We had so much fun, and definitely didn't want to leave to go back to our hot house!!! My friend Johanna took some great pictures, so I'll let you check them out on her blog at: http://hallenberger.blogspot.com/. Thanks Johanna!
Big Truck Day
Today, on the second hottest day of the summer, (the hottest was yesterday), it was Big Truck day over at the rec center near our house. There are all sorts of trucks there - fire trucks, bread trucks, police trucks, cranes, bulldozers, semis, the Oscar Meyer weiner mobile, and even WALL-E. We took two of our friends with us, Brigham and Luke, and had a great time despite the melting heat! Here are a couple of pictures we took before we melted into puddles and had to leave!
Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband
On Thursday, Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband were performing a free summer concert in a park in Hillsboro near us. We packed a picnic dinner, met up with some friends, and enjoyed listening to the music while eating our dinner. It was extremely HOT, but still fun! Landon especially had fun dancing with Davis (those pictures were too dark to post).

Pepe Le Pew in Brookings
Last weekend, it was the Morris family reunion at the Oregon Coast in Brookings. We stayed at our usual spot, Harris Beach. We had two yurts this year, one for us and one for Jake and Stacey, and the rest of the family stayed in the tents. The trip was made especially interesting the first night, after dinner. We were sitting around waiting for Jake and Stacey to arrive. I walked over to one side of the picnic table, and there, right in the grass, was a skunk! I told everyone, and we hurried and jumped up and ran away from the table. No one else saw the skunk, so almost everyone started saying"Oh, it was just a raccoon." I was pretty sure that tail sticking up with a stripe down it was a skunk! That night, Shane had to get up to go to the bathroom, and sure enough, as he was walking out of our yurt, he saw the skunk walking down the path between our yurt and the tents. Even though there were no more skunk sightings after that, Jake named him Pepe le Pew. Nate and Becky also saw a sign at the Ranger station that said "Last Cougar Sighting in this Camp - 8/6/08." So that was two days before we got there!!! Luckily, we didn't have any cougar encounters, but with a skunk and cougar wandering about, it definitely kept me from any midnight bathroom stops.
Landon loved the beach, and cried when we left because he wanted to play in the sand more. Davis did great despite the fact that he was cutting his two top teeth while we were there. Thankfully, they're all in now! Here's a slidshow of our trip.

Shane's Birthday (Belated)
On August 5, Shane turned 32 years old! He had to work that day, so we celebrated instead on Saturday. I had a day of activities planned for him. I made his favorite breakfast, crepes, and then we got ready to go. I packed a picnic lunch, and we went to Wilsonville to the park and ate. We were going to go miniature golfing, but Bullwinkle's was closed for a private party, so instead we walked around the Wilsonville Fun in the Park, which just happened to be that day. After an afternoon nap, our neighbors watched Landon and Davis while we went to play tennis. Then, after picking up the boys, we went to Shane's favorite restaurant, Spaghetti Factory, for dinner, thanks to a gift certificate from his parents! Here are some pictures of the day. (We ate the cake and ice cream the next day, so those pictures are from Sunday)
