*In an attempt to get caught up on my blog, I finally decided to start from the present, and then work my way backwards to catch up on the summer. That should at least get me blogging about what’s going on now!
In August, I always start to feel sad that the end of summer is near. I think of all the things we haven’t go to do yet, and how I will miss having the boys home with me all day. By the end of August, I am always ready for school to start. :) The end of August/beginning of September is especially busy because it is a big testing period for me at my work. This year was especially crazy because we were also doing all sorts of work on our house to get it ready to put up for sale. We put it on the market on Labor Day weekend. The routine of school has helped me to find more time to work and to keep the house clean for everyone coming to see it.
We had three boys in school this year, and they each had a different first day. Landon’s first day was the day after Labor Day, and he started third grade this year. He was excited to get back to school. He has Mrs. Hill, and so far seems to really like her.

Davis was pretty bored that first day Landon was gone. While waiting for him to get home, he decided to write him a book: “What Did You Do at School Today Landon?” (WatdiduduatscoltadayLandon)

1. Did you play on the playground? 2. Did you read books? 3. Did you play with toys?

4. Did you have math? 5. Did you have lunch? 6. The end
Landon read the book when he got home and answered each question as he read it. Landon (and I) have become pretty good at deciphering Davis’s one-word sentences.

That Thursday, James started his first year at preschool. He has been asking me for the last several weeks if his teacher is at school yet. He was pretty excited to finally get to go to school! Davis started the next Monday for his first day of Kindergarten. It had been a long week for him at home waiting until it was time for him to go. He has done great so far, and really seems to like going.

On the days when James doesn’t go to school, he has fun playing on his own and hanging out with me and Asher. He also lately likes to ask me about Santa. Almost once a day, he will say, out of the blue, “Mom, where’s Santa?” I didn’t even know he knew who Santa was! After several days of me responding that Santa was at the North Pole, he one day said, “Still?!?” He definitely keeps me entertained each day. Friday, he had his friend Leela over, and they had fun playing outside and reading books together.

And Asher? He’s growing cuter and cuter every day. He is doing great, and we feel so blessed that he is healthy and strong. He had two developmental screenings and easily passed both, so for now, he is right where he should be despite his two open-heart surgeries. He loves to watch his big brothers, and they love to entertain him!

Besides that, we’ve just been keeping busy with my work, soccer, and keeping our house looking nice for everyone coming to see it while also trying to take care of these crazy boys!
