Asher had another great day today! He ate from the bottle several times and the nurse told us that normally they are happy when babies with HLHS eat maybe 1 oz. within a 30 minute feeding window, because if they go longer than that it usually means they burn more calories than they take in. Asher downed his first two bottles very quickly. He was done in each instance within ten minutes and his oxygen numbers went up while he was eating (a great thing because it means he’s relaxed when eating and it’s a good sign he will get all the food he needs from a bottle and possibly nursing without having to work so hard that he burns off all the calories at the same time).
He also had several different tubes, sensors, etc. taken off his little body. He’s beginning to look a lot like a regular newborn again. We didn’t get to fully hold him today because his IV by his neck had a little bit of blood on his gauze, and we didn’t want to irritate it too much, but that IV is coming out tomorrow, so we should be for then. In the morning before we went to the hospital, James helped me adjust the crib for when Asher finally comes home. Meanwhile, Landon and Davis were playing with their grandparents creating some bunny ears for fun.

Good night everyone!
