Bedtime Routine

Besides the bath, story, prayers, and singing, Davis had decided he needed another element to his bedtime routine. After my version of a his bedtime routine, I leave him nicely lying down on his pillow with his blanket and doggy. A few minutes later, we can hear things falling, and before long, he is crying. When we go in there, he has everything from his crib thrown on the floor, including his pajama top and bottom. Luckily, he hasn't yet taken off his diaper. We usually repeat this routine about three times before he finally goes to sleep.

Last night, there was a small glitch in the routine. We'll have to see if this prevents future occurrences (doubt it). Shane and I were sitting out on the couch and heard the familiar fall of his doggy, his pillow, etc. , when all of a sudden we hear Davis screaming. Shane hurried in there, and this time, Davis had thrown everything out of his crib except his pajama top, which he had somehow managed to get wrapped around his back with his arms still stuck in it.

Shane and I weren't too sympathetic and laughed when we saw what he had done. Hopefully he learned his lesson . . . but probably not. I'm just glad he hasn't started getting himself out of the crib too. (knock on wood)

On a Roll

Here are two more videos we filmed this week that I actually took the time to upload. The first is of Davis eating a cupcake for dessert tonight. He had it in a bowl, and I guess he thought smooshing it up against his face was the best way to eat it. Click here to watch it.

The second one is of me reading stories to the boys the other night before bed. This one is a little long, so it's mainly for you grandparents, but if anyone has a little time on their hands and feels so inclined, click here to watch it.

Trick or Treat

We celebrated Halloween this week with many fun parties and activities.  Landon wanted to be a bat, and Davis was a cowboy.   I didn’t get too many great pictures, but here’s a few to sum up our week:

On Tuesday, we went to our first ward Halloween party/Trunk or Treat.  It was tons of fun, and the rain even let up for the trunk or treat part in the parking lot.  Landon brought along his good friend Caleb, and they had fun doing the cake walk and all the carnival games before trunk or treating.  IMG_3553

IMG_3557 IMG_3560 Here is Davis sharing some candy with his good friend Eve (I think they were pretty much the cutest kids at the party), and one of Davis eating the pack of peanut M&M’s he wanted after trunk or treating.

Friday, we went to Landon’s preschool for a little Halloween program, and then afterward we headed over to Shane’s work for a fun lunch Halloween party with a chili and dessert cookoff and some trick-or-treating for the kids.   I didn’t get any pictures, but if was fun to see all the kids dressed up in their costumes.

Today, for lunch, we ate at Spaghetti Factory because every kid that came in their costume got a free kids meal.  As many of you probably know, Spaghetti Factory is a family favorite and pretty much the only restaurant we ever eat out at!  The boys had fun eating their spaghetti and watching all the boats go by on the river.   The only difficult part was keeping the spaghetti off their costumes!

After we got home, the boys got a little silly and played around putting this pumpkin on their head for awhile.

Finally, to end the day, we went trick-or-treating with our good friends the Lovelands and Kojimas.  It was a warm evening with a clear sky and a full moon which made it even more enjoyable than it usually is.  Davis has been really loving to give Landon hugs and to sit by him, especially when there are lots of other kids around, so I put in a few pictures of that as we were getting ready to start trick or treating.  I also put in a few pictures of all the kids in their costumes together.  It was quite a group when we showed up at each door!

For Jake

My brother Jake has been reminding me that I haven’t posted a video in forever. He is pretty good about emailing little video clips of Kallie, so I promised him I’d post one by Sunday. I’m barely making it, but I did it! Here’s a video of me reading a story to Davis. When I was done, Landon wanted to film Davis too, but I didn’t get that one uploaded yet. That’ll have to be on tomorrow’s to-do list. :)

To watch the video, click here.

P.S. Davis has croup, so his voice sounds a little bit off.

Walking in Fall

Yesterday, Landon, Davis, and I thought we’d get out and enjoy a dry fall afternoon and take a walk up the path behind our house.  I love this path because I can let the boys run without worrying about them going in the road or about some car backing up into them.  I saw this cool red fence and thought it would be fun to get some cute pictures of the boys by it.  You can see how successful that was!  If I just could get Davis to stand still for 5 seconds . . .

And here are a few others of our walk:

Can you see both of their tongues hanging out in the one of them running down the path?  I also love the one of them holding hands – Davis usually likes it, but only for so long!  We also picked up leaves we liked as we walked.  Davis didn’t quite get it, and most of the time was picking up any leaf he saw along the way.  Today was VERY rainy, so hopefully we can take some more walks like this before all the leaves are gone!

Carving Pumpkins

For Family Home Evening this Monday, we carved the pumpkins we had got at the pumpkin patch.  Landon was so excited all afternoon and kept asking when it was going to be time to carve the pumpkins.  I always loved carving pumpkins growing up, and it reminds me of carving them with Mary!

Both boys picked out which pumpkin stencil they liked – Landon a silly face, and Davis the starry eyes (he kept saying “sar” and pointing to the eyes, so I figured that was good enough for me to know which one he wanted.)

Landon got right to work cleaning out his pumpkin, but he refused to use his hands!  He must not take after me!

Davis was a little more brave at scooping out with his hands, and he was doing a pretty good job.  I think he got bored though, because after awhile, we looked over and saw him doing this and this: (yes, that’s him under the tablecloth)

Landon wanted to help cut out the face on his pumpkin.  He usually has his tongue out when he’s concentrating :)

And of course, one of Shane carving his nice huge one, and the finished products!

October Fun

Besides having visits from three out of four grandparents, we’ve also had some fun of our own this month. Here are a few pictures to prove it!

IMG_3383 IMG_3384 IMG_3385

I built this fort for Davis and Landon one day. They had fun playing in it, pretending to sleep in it, and eating lunch in it. I must say, it was a pretty sweet fort. We kept it up most of the day until Landon started getting upset each time he bonked his head on the table. They then climbed up in the pile of blankets on the chair and sat there playing around for awhile.

We love slurpees!

Shane has instilled his love for slurpees in these two silly boys. Landon can point out all the 7-11s around our house, and there are quite a few. :) Here they are enjoying some slurpees after a slurpee outing with Dad.

Davis woke up a little too early one morning. I turned on a show for him while I got ready and found him like this, laying on his favorite doggy, looking half asleep as he watched TV.

And two more random ones from when my parents were here. The first one is of Davis and Landon watching a video of their cousin Kallie. Davis liked it so much he kept asking to watch it over and over again (don’t ask where his pants were). The second is of Landon and Davis trying on the silly glasses Grandma Morris brought them for Halloween. Davis looks pretty serious. I think he was trying to figure out how to see through them!
