Happy 1st Birthday Davis!

Last Sunday was Davis's birthday. We had planned to have just a small party with some friends, but I was so sick all weekend that we ended up postponing it until tonight. We did open some presents on Sunday, and Davis had fun with his shopping cart and race track. You can see in the pictures that he had a little help from his brother opening the gifts. Tonight, Landon tried to get Davis to blow out the candle, but he didn't have any luck, so Landon ended up blowing it out for him. It was a fun party, and I'm glad we were all finally feeling better to celebrate!

We have sure loved having Davis in our family. Here are a few things about him now that he's one:

• Fortunately, he did not triple his birth weight in his first year, which I guess is what a lot of kids do. We're glad he's a healthy 22 lbs instead of 33 lbs!
• He is walking all over the place, and loves to "run" around after Landon up and down the hallway
• He says "mamamamama" when he needs me, "ah duh" for all done (sometimes), and makes car noises
• He loves to play peek-a-boo
• He loves any game with Landon, and they laugh and laugh together
• If it's quiet and you can't find Davis, he is probably in his bedroom pulling all his books off his bookshelf and looking at them
• He has a little doggy he loves to sleep with
• He sleeps great for his naps and usually wakes up and plays in his crib for awhile, even after I go in there to get him.

The Last Month

It's been awhile since I posted on here, mainly because I left my camera at my parent's house when I was down there in January and just got it back a couple of days ago! I do have a few pictures to post though, so here they are! I also have a ton of video (no camera, so we used our video camera a little more!) so I'll try to post those too.

Below Zero Zoo

For Christmas, my parents got us a zoo membership. We were very excited, and when I saw the forecast for Saturday was dry and not super cold (about 50 degrees), I thought we should make our first visit as members. Shane came with us too, for his first zoo visit. Unfortunately, it was SUPER cold, but we still had fun seeing some animals, especially the baby elephant.

Davis was fully bundled up and probably the warmest of all of us . . . but he sure couldn't move around much!

I is for Instruments

Once a week, my friend Lori and I get together with our kids and do a letter day, thanks to the great Memory Lane Preschool items my mom has assembled for me. This week, we had fun hearing the story about the letter I, coloring our letter I, and gluing "I" words on our page.

The best part for the kids though was when we got out the instruments. Landon got a bag full of instruments for Christmas from his grandma, so he passed them all out and they had a great time banging and pounding and shaking. It was pretty wild with five kids all doing it at once (even Davis participated), especially since one of the instruments was some cymbals that Austin and Landon took turns banging constantly. :)

Don't Freak Out!

The other day, I loaded up Landon and Davis in the car and headed out to run the long list of errands I had been writing down all week. One of our last stops along the way was Fred Meyer, where I had a couple of things to return, and a few sale items I wanted to buy. As we pulled into the parking lot, I reached into the backseat to grab the bag of items when I realized I had left them at home! "Ah man!" I said while giving a frustrated sigh.

Landon looked at me and said, "Don't freak out, Mom."

It's a good thing he's learned that expression. I'm sure he'll have to tell it to me again - maybe even when I actually am freaking out! :)
