Thanksgiving 2010

For Thanksgiving this year, we made the trek through the snowstorms to Utah (not so enjoyable) to be with the Brewer family, Shane’s grandma, for a great Thanksgiving feast (very enjoyable!)  We had a great time visiting with extended family, eating delicious food, and watching a slideshow depicting the legacy of Grandma and Grandpa Brewer. 

Other highlights of the weekend included bowling with the cousins, meeting Mark and Melanie’s baby Ames, Black Friday shopping with David and Becky, and just visiting and relaxing with Shane’s family. 

  

“Hide and Go Seek” and some giggles

Davis and Landon have had fun playing hide and go seek a lot lately.  Davis is so funny when he counts.  He can count to 12 really well, but then he throws in a few numbers until he reaches 20.  He always says, “Here I come, or not,”  putting the “or not” of “ready or not” at the end.  Here is a video of him counting and then finding Landon and his friend Eve.

This morning, when Shane and I were getting ready, Landon and Davis were entertaining James on the bed.  James sure loves to laugh for his big brothers!

A Birthday Surprise

Friday was my mom’s birthday, so I decided to drive down and surprise her for her birthday since Landon had Thursday and Friday off from school.  Shane couldn’t come because he is saving his days off for the holidays, so I was a little nervous about the drive, but the boys were really good and the time went by fast.  The boys were excited to surprise her, and she was super surprised!

We went to Red Robin for her birthday dinner.  We actually went the night before her birthday because Jacob had to work until 8 the night of her birthday.  We had a fun time, and the kids were quite good!  We were especially glad that the 30-35 minute wait they quoted us when we first came in ended up only being 5 minutes. 

On Friday, Mom took Landon to preschool in the morning, and then later in the afternoon, we went to Lithia Park.  I LOVE Lithia Park in the fall.  Even though most of the leaves were already off the trees, there were leaves all over the ground and it was beautiful.  It was a little bit late by the time everyone got up from their naps, so it was almost dark when we got there, but we still had fun looking at the leaves.

 

Landon and Davis especially loved throwing the leaves up in the air.  I think they would have played there for hours if we didn’t make them leave because it was dark and cold!

And finally, here are a couple of pictures of the birthday Grandma with her grandkids.  It was a fun weekend we will always remember!  It definitely made it a less relaxing birthday for my mom, but hopefully she still enjoyed having us all there! (What Grandma wouldn’t enjoy these cute kids?)

My Silly Davis

Davis is one silly boy.  He cracks me up every day.  I love it when he cups his chubby cheeks in his hands like this while watching a show or relaxing on the couch. 

The other day, I was exercising on my elliptical machine when Davis poked his head out the door and said, “Mom, I think somebody else’s turn.”

“Whose turn is it?”  I asked.

“Little boy’s turn.”

I then explained to him that the elliptical machine is not made for little boys, that they could get hurt and it would be hard to use if you’re little.  He looked at me and said, “But Mom, me BI-I-I-I-GGER!” as he took his hands from his feet clear to the top of his head.

I think we have posted pictures like this on our blog before, but once again, we found him asleep in his bed like this:

 

The first of November, he helped me to make our thankful tree for the wall.  It has been fun to see what he and Landon want to put on the leaves to hang up, and it has reminded them to be more thoughtful in their prayers in remembering the things they are thankful for.

October Potpourri

Here’s a little more of what we did in October:

KINDERGARTEN FIELD TRIP:  I went on a field trip with Landon’s Kindergarten class to the apple orchard.  It was fun to see him with his school friends, and the apple orchard was a lot of fun!

UNCLE KELLY:  We’ve also been lucky to have Shane’s brother Kelly move up here by us.  He has been staying with us the past few weeks until his apartment is ready the end of this month.  The boys  have loved having someone else around to play with them (and we haven’t minded it either!)

CARVING PUMPKINS:  For Family Home Evening last week, we carved our pumpkins.  Landon had been asking if we could every day since we went to the pumpkin patch, so he was excited it was finally time!  I always love carving pumpkins, so I’m glad the boys enjoy doing it too!

 

HALLOWEEN:  And finally, for Halloween, some friends invited us over for some fun activities since Halloween was on a Sunday.  We had fun making mummy dogs and donut spiders, reading funny Halloween stories, and doing some Halloween crafts.
