A Few More from the Hospital

Our stay at the hospital lasted for three days, and I was so ready to come home by Sunday!  Here are a few more pictures taken while we were at the hospital.

Three Boys

We’ve had some requests for pictures of Landon, Davis, and James to compare.  They actually all look quite alike, although they each definitely have their own characteristics.  What do you think?

And finally, Landon wanted me to put up one of me and one of Shane as a baby.  We don’t have too many good ones of Shane as a newborn here at our house, but this is what I found:

Three Brothers Together Again

My Mom and Dad are here helping with Landon and Davis while we’re in the hospital. We’re very thankful for the help! My parents brought them up this afternoon after Davis’s nap.  Landon was especially excited to meet his new baby brother.  He wanted to look at his little toes and little hands and was pretty fascinated with him.  Davis would take a peek or two at him, then jump away to run around the room, then bounce back a few minutes later.   Here are some pictures of everyone meeting James for the first time.

The boys picked out a nice bouquet of sunflowers for me (Landon’s favorite).  They are great to brighten up the room!  And baby James meeting his Grandma and Grandpa Morris for the first time.

  The proud new brothers!

Welcome Baby James!

James Daniel Malan was born at 12:36 pm today! The surgery went very well and Jessica did great through it all. Here are the stats on the baby:

Weight: 9 lbs.  4 oz.

Length: 21 inches

Hair: Lots of thick black hair.

Mood: Seemed happy to be out and so far he’s a fairly calm baby. (Except when you prick his feet for blood, put a cold stethoscope on his chest to measure his heartbeat,  or take him out of the cloth wrap he’s in! – I haven’t told him yet the whole bit about circumcisions and how they work!)

Here are some pics that have been passed through my editor (Jess) for approval. Enjoy! More posts to come!

Last Day with Two Kids

Here’s what we’re doing on our last day with two boys.  It’s supposed to get to 97 today, so with no AC, we are keeping cool in the pool.  I’ve been lucky it hasn’t been hot before now!  My friend Jenn kidnapped me for a pedicure last night, so I think I’m all ready to go.  :)  If I can just survive today’s heat . . .

And yes, Davis is about to throw water on me in the last picture.  Luckily he was shaking his head up and down, asking if he could, and he stopped when I said no.  I may change my mind later this afternoon though!

Happy 4th!

For our 4th of July celebration, we invited our friends over for a BBQ.  We had good friends, good company, and a great time overall.  I made Mom’s flag cake, which I haven’t made since I made it for Shane the first 4th we had together when we were dating and it got ruined by a dust storm up Provo Canyon.   Luckily it turned out a little better this time!

The kids had fun playing in the backyard, and about every five minutes, one or the other of them would ask when we were going to set off fireworks.  :)  We finally started with some pops and sparklers at dusk, and that got us through until dark.  Our neighbors on both sides were setting off huge fireworks as well, so that added to our show also.

IMG_4820 IMG_4823 All the kids watched the fireworks on this great blanket Grandma and Grandpa Landon made for Shane and I when we graduated.  It fit the 4th of July theme great!  They were all full of energy and quite excited.

IMG_4833 IMG_4834 Watching a few flower fireworks – I love how excited they all are even for these first little ones.

We had a great time!  Now we just have the baby to look forward to in a couple of days!
