Utah Trip Fall 2013

In addition to attending General Conference on our trip to Utah, we also did a lot of other fun things.  Each day seemed packed with activities and people to see, but we also felt like we got some much-needed time to relax and spend time together as a family.  Christie was great and took the boys with her to the dinosaur park on Monday, to the nature center on Tuesday, and to visit some parks and eat lunch at McDonalds on Friday.  They always have a great time with Grandma!

We also had fun just hanging out around the house.

Besides Shane’s parents, we have so many family and friends that live in Utah!  We tried to visit a few of them while we were there.

We went to Provo to meet up with one of my best friends since 5th grade, Bethany.  It had been too long since we’d seen each other!  We also stopped by and saw Camille and Bryce’s place, and cute little Avery, and spent a few minutes at Jake and Stacey’s place after eating a delicious dinner at Shane’s Uncle Alan and Aunt Kim’s house.

We also met our good friends the Lovelands at Chuck E. Cheese, and the kids had a great time together as always.

General Conference

Since we were unable to go to Utah this summer with all of Asher’s surgery and recovery, we decided to go out this fall to stay with Shane’s family.  We thought it would be fun to coordinate our trip with General Conference so that Landon could go for his first time since turning eight.  We got tickets for the Sunday morning session, and Shane, Landon, Kent, Christie, and I all met my parents, Jake, and Camille and Bryce at the Conference Center.  Landon was excited to see where conference is, and especially to see the prophet.  We only had one stressful moment when he went to the bathroom and left his ticket in there.  He was pretty bummed because he wanted to keep his ticket to put in his journal, but then I told him he could have mine, and he was happy about that.

September Happenings

September was a busy month, with school, lots of house showings, soccer, and lots of work for me.  Here are a few of the highlights and some of our day to day activities.

Bennett and Ryan (and Becky) stopped by for an hour on their way down to Ashland.  The boys had fun racing cars.  James helped me make brownies for Family Home Evening treats, and had fun licking the bowl.

The kids played outside in the cul de sac almost every day after school, drawing all sorts of chalk drawings and riding bikes with their neighbor friends.  Davis worked on some more books during his quiet time.

A fun game of soccer after dinner one night.  Asher did a good job cheering us on.

It was our ward’s month to clean the church.  We followed it up by getting some root beer floats.

Lots of Saturday soccer games!
