Annual Morris Family Coast Trip – Camping and At the Beach

This year, Shane and I didn’t camp with everyone else since James was only three weeks old.  We got a hotel close to the campground and went over there to sleep, but we spent the rest of our time with everyone at the campground.  Saturday morning, Landon woke up and climbed into bed with David in the back of his truck, and somehow the two of them decided they needed breakfast in bed.  Landon thought it was pretty cool to eat breakfast in bed!

My mom gave each of the grandkids a little backpack with some fun things for the trip, including a book.  Davis got a Lightning McQueen book that he rarely set down from that point on (including when he went to bed).IMG_7961  IMG_7964

I always wonder how we need make it down to the beach with so much stuff!  It’s always quite a trek from our campsite down the path to the beach with everything.  We always seem to use it all!  This year, David had the inspiration to bring this HUGE tarp up with him, and his entire forever-long drive from San Jose Friday afternoon/evening to meet us at the coast, he planned out how to put the tarp up against the rock to help block the wind.  They set it up by one rock, then ended up moving it by another rock, but it was great!

Everyone loved playing in the sand, as always.  I would say especially the kids, but you can see, many adults are building a huge sandcastle and burying each other in the sand along with the kids.

It’s always interesting trying to balance a full day at the beach without easy access back to our campsite with young kids, especially babies!  The babies did great though!

I love the picture of Landon in the tent with James, and look at cute Ethan!!!  He has the best little smile!

And of course, we had fun playing in the water.  Davis was impossible to get out of the water.  Even after being soaked by a wave, he told us, with teeth chattering and blue lips, “Go water again!”

I love this shot of Davis jumping into the water!

Jacob and David were almost as bad as Davis.  They always love the big waves!  It was a great day at the beach!

Annual Morris Family Coast Trip – Paul Bunyan and Sunset

As I mentioned in the previous post, we went to the Oregon Coast the last weekend in July for the annual Morris Family Coast Trip.  This year, we decided to make a stop at the Trees of Mystery to pay a visit to Paul Bunyan, as Nate had never been.

Camille pointed out that all of the black stuff in his shirt is chest hair, something we’d never paid attention to before.  She is now looking for a man to date who can rival Paul Bunyan’s thickness and darkness of chest hair, so if you know of anyone to set her up with, let me know.  ;)

After setting up camp, we made the necessary trip down to the beach to view the sunset.  It was beautiful as always!  Here are a few pictures of the sunset.

Grandma and Grandpa Camp

I am currently sitting in our car on a very long, multiple-day trek to my brother’s wedding in San Diego, so I thought I would use my Windows Live Writer to catch up on some blog posts and then then post them tonight at our stop-over in San Jose at Jake and Stacey’s place.

The last week in July, the Morris family met up in Brookings, Oregon for our annual camping coast trip.  Things were a bit more complicated this year with a three-week-old baby, but James was very good for the trip. My parents had taken Landon and Davis for the week before for their second annual Grandma and Grandpa camp.  They had a fun time at Grandma’s, and I enjoyed a nice week adjusting to life with James.  Here are some of the highlights of their stay:

They had fun playing in the water and on the slip n’slide (yes, that’s my mom going down in the last pics)

Becky, Nate, Bennett, and Camille arrived a day earlier than everyone else.  Landon and Davis had fun playing with Bennett!  The last picture of Davis and Landon sleeping.  My mom finally had to put a blanket rolled up between them to keep Davis from kicking Landon in the night, but you can see in the picture it didn’t seem to help to much, as Davis is just using that as his pillow.

Becky, Nate, and Camille went to Crater Lake and Natural Bridge for the day, and they took Landon with them.  He had a great time!

One Month Old

James is one month old now, and we can’t believe how much he is changing!  A couple of weeks ago at our Morris family reunion, Becky took some pictures of James and of all three boys together.  She did a great job!  Here are some of my favorites.
