Happy 4th of July

(This entire blogpost is backwards! I tried to fix it, but the cut/paste function and the moving pictures function don't appear to be working properly, and I'm too tired to figure it out!)

Clearfield watching Shane set up our fireworks:

At the parade - you can see Davis is already getting tired in this picture with Grandma!

More parade!

After our great week in Park City, we headed up to North Ogden for the 4th of July Cherry Days celebrations. The parade was great, especially since it was cloudy and the perfect temperature through the whole thing. It was a good parade, although not quite as eventful as an Ashland 4th of July parade (no one jumping out of closets or roller-blading in a g-string up the street). Davis fell asleep in my lap shortly after it started, which was a miracle, and slept through most of the parade. Landon liked getting the candy, but we had about 25 kids sitting right next to us who were much more aggressive than him and who would run over in front of us to get candy. Landon tends to be the type who will stop running for a piece of candy if he sees another kid heading towards it too. Luckily, his older cousin Keither was there to save the day a few times and stop some tears when he gave Landon a piece or two of his candy.
We went up to the park afterward to the Cherry Days in the park, where they have different booths and activities, where we ran into several of Shane's friends and had a nice time visiting with them. We wished we could have stayed another day so we could see more people! That night, we drove out to Clearfield to Shane's grandma's to watch the fireworks and set off a little firework show of our own. Shane set off a few that Davis especially liked, and he would clap and say "yay" after each one. It was a great 4th, and we were only sad that it ended and we had to drive back home the next day!

Park City

We spent the last week in Park City with Shane's family at their Marriot time share. We always love going, and had a great time! Here are some pictures of our week there.

Swimming in the pool - Davis especially loved being thrown in the air. He also liked to stand at the edge of the pool and yell "go" before jumping into our arms in the water. Landon's ring was great, and he floated all over in it, except for the one time he thought he'd like to try it without the ring, slid out, and went for it, only to sink right down. When Shane was telling me the story later, Landon was embarassed and told him, "Dad, you're not supposed to tell Mom that." :)

Enjoying the rides - We spent one day enjoying all the many activities they have there - the alpine slide, alpine coaster, miniature golf, kids rides, maze (Landon wanted to do that about five times), etc. Shane and I always especially love the Alpine slide, as that's what we did on our first date. In fact, you can see the top of the hill Shane proposed to be on quite clearly from our condo in Park City, so it brings back good memories. Davis liked throwing the ball into the hole on the golf course. Landon was a little nervous on the alpine slide and coaster, and told us the whole way up he wanted to go really slow. He seemed to enjoy it okay, with only a few complaints of it going too fast.

Hanging out in the hotel - Becky and Bennett came up to go shopping one afternoon (see more pics at her blog here), and of course, one picture of Davis's cheezy grin he loves to do in pictures.

Fun at the park - My good friend Bethany came up to visit for an afternoon, and we ate lunch at this park. Unfortunatly, I of course didn't bring my camera, but we did go back later with the cousins and had a great time playing on the playground. Davis LOVES the swing, and Landon especially liked this digger in the sand.

Fun with cousins and of course, Grandma! - We went and walked downtown and little, and Grandma got all the cousins (except Davis) these huge lollipops, and some jelly beans for Keither. And of course, one of Landon and Grandma. He loves Grandma, maybe a little too much! :)

A nice Sunday afternoon picnic in a park:

Overall, it was a wonderful vacation! We can't wait to do it again! More pictures to come of our 4th of July!

Berry Season Begins

On Friday, I went strawberry picking with my mom, Landon, and Davis. The strawberry patch we went to had TONS of strawberries (Thanks Lori!) and in only 30 minutes we picked almost 17 pounds of berries! I was glad my mom was there because most of the time, either she or I was chasing Davis, so really just one of the two of us was picking. You can see from the pictures that we had to bribe him with a dum-dum to keep him distracted from roaming up and down the rows of berries. Landon picked probably a small bucket full. We came home, washed them and removed the stems, and then made four batches of freezer jam and froze six bags of berries. I say we, but in reality, my mom did most of it because I had to leave to chaperone at youth conference. We tasted a little this morning and it was delicious! It brought back memories of Grandma Landon's delicious jam. Thanks for your help mom!

Summer Adventures

We have had lots of fun activities planned for this week. Yesterday, we went to the children's museum. Landon and Davis had a lot of fun, and I had fun getting a workout chasing Davis all around the museum. Landon could probably stay and play in the same room the whole time, while Davis stays in each area for maybe . . . 30 seconds if I'm lucky. The one area he did stay in for awhile was the water, so that's where I have some pictures of him. He and Landon also had fun crawling through this tunnel together.

Today, we went to "pirate ship park" in Lake Oswego. We like to go there to meet Shane for lunch, but today we took a few friends. The kids had a great time riding their bikes and ride-on toys around the nice paved path that circles the park. The big teeter-totter is also always a hit, and that's what Davis and Landon are sitting on in the first picture.

Here are the pictures from our recent photo shoot. Thanks Johanna!
