Christmas was a little different this year, but in a good way, since we had church at 9 a.m. The boys woke up just after 7:00, and Shane and I had got up before that and got all showered and ready for church. We had hung a sheet so that they couldn’t see into the front room, and they all lined up on the stairs until they heard the Jim Reeves Christmas music start playing.
They were all excited to see what Santa had brought for each of them. They spent some time going through their stockings and playing with their Santa gifts, and then we had time for them to open their gifts from us. Their main gift from us was a Disney shirt, and each present had a Disney character printed out with a word on the back. They had to unscramble the sentence that read, “We are going to Disneyland.” They were all pretty excited about the plans!
We then had our traditional croissants and hot chocolate for breakfast, and while we ate, we opened the five boxes that give the true gifts of Christmas. We then are hurried to finish getting ready before heading to church. I had the “privilege” of speaking in Sacrament Meeting on Christmas Sunday, so I was nervous and anxious to do that, and it was nice to be done. The Christmas program had beautiful music and great messages.
After church, we finished opening gifts, and then the kids had a great time playing with their presents. It was especially fun to see the boys give each other and us the gifts they had picked out from the Dollar Store. The Anki racetrack was a big hit, and all the boys spent hours racing the cars around. They also had fun playing their new board games and card games. Kelly and Jessa came over and we had lots of yummy snacks and appetizers to eat, and we enjoyed visiting together and relaxing for the rest of the day. After it was dark, we went out on a walk around the neighborhood to burn some energy and to enjoy all of our neighbors’ Christmas lights.
