March Happenings

March was quite the busy month, with a trip to Seattle for Eliza’s blessing, Asher’s first birthday, and Kent and Christie visiting for spring break.  Besides that, we still fit a lot of other things in!

Becky and her kids came to visit for a few days while Nate was in Utah for a ski trip.  The boys had fun riding bikes, playing games, and coloring with chalk, and we all had fun admiring baby Eliza!

We also went shopping at the outlets.  The boys were really good and cooperative while we went to a few stores.  Davis and Bennett had fun hiding in the clothes, and James kept hiding in the stroller.  We thought we were doing pretty good with seven kids and just two moms, but just as we were about to leave, Becky saw a store with something she needed.  I told her I’d continue on with the other kids to the car.  I was pushing Asher in the stroller with James riding on the back, and Landon was pushing Eliza.  Ryan wanted to stay with Becky but everyone else came with me.  James was throwing a fit by then because he wanted a graham cracker (which he can’t pronounce his “g” sounds and instead says a “d”), which I didn’t have any of.  He was yelling at me and hitting me to get one, so I stopped to talk to him for a minute, and looked around and realized Bennett wasn’t with me.  We had only walked about three stores from where Becky was.  I turned around and headed back, but she didn’t have him either.  We split up, and I spent the next 20 minutes frantically circling the outlets stores, pushing James with him screaming for a “d-ahm” cracker, and Landon pushing Eliza.  Becky went straight to security, and they found him in a few stores over from where Becky was.  He had decided to go back to her without telling me, turned around and ran back, and then realized he didn’t know where she was.  It was quite the scare and we were so relieved it ended well!

Despite the busy month, the boys still had plenty of time to be silly.

I found James asleep like this for his nap one day, with a Lightning McQueen car on his head.  He also showed off his “muscles.”  One day when he told me he had put his PJs away, I found them later stuffed inside of Shane’s shoes.

Davis learned how to ride a bike with no training wheels!  We rode our bikes to the library.  Another day we built a spider web out of string and they had fun throwing their dogs at it and getting them caught.

Asher got his last round of RSV shots, and I painted the office (which was a MAJOR pain and took three coats of paint.  With the high ceilings, I about lost my mind)

I ran the Celtic Crox half marathon with my friends Kara and Kricket, and James fell asleep on the stairs for his nap that afternoon.  I was sound asleep on the couch after my run, and didn’t notice he had snuck out of his room.

Landon made this sign to make sure we would buy him something from Oriental Trading, James had fun at pump it up with Leela, and Asher was proud of himself for standing up on the race track.

A little friend peeked around at me while I was working, and we had a beautiful double rainbow after a rainy few days.  James liked it so much that he brought out a chair to sit on and watch it on the front porch.

And last but not least, we rode our bikes to the park on the last day of the month, which was a bonus spring break day the Monday after spring break.  We had a little picnic lunch and the boys had fun playing before we headed back to our regular school routine the next day.

Spring Break–March 24-28

This year for spring break, Kent and Christie (Shane’s parents) both came out to stay for the week!  They both retired in the fall, so this is the first time they’ve been able to come out for such a long time in the spring since Christie is normally teaching school.  We were glad they could come and brighten up our spring break a little.

This was the first time they had been to our new home and city, so we took them on a walk to show them the new neighborhood.

One day that week, we met Shane and Kelly at the pirate ship park for lunch.  It was a beautiful day, and the boys had fun playing on the little playground there.

Another day we went to our favorite story time at the library.  James even got to sit on Ms. Theresa’s lap for lap time.

We of course just had fun hanging out around the house with these silly boys.

Landon also had a pack meeting that week, with Shane running the show as cub master, so we all went and cheered him on.

And finally, the boys went to pump it up with Grandma and Grandpa.  James was too nervous for awhile to go down the slide, and he would just stand on the stairs to the side, but after awhile he finally warmed up and went down.  Once he did, he didn’t want to stop!

It was such a great week and so fun to have Kent and Christie there too.  I had to work a lot, so I didn’t get to go along on all the activities, but it was nice to have them there to play with the kids when they didn’t have school.
