Sledding

For President’s Day weekend, we headed down to Ashland for the weekend.  We left Thursday afternoon, and Shane and I spent some time celebrating our 10 year anniversary at Callahan’s up by Mount Ashland while my parent’s watched the kids.  When we got back Saturday, we drove up Greensprings to Hyatt Lake to go sledding.  The spot we went was really nice, and there was even a nice cabin that had a fireplace where we could warm up and eat lunch.  The kids had a lot of fun. Landon was a little nervous his first time down the little hill, but after that, he was unstoppable.  He would go down the hill, hike back up to the top, and go down again.  He even eventually wanted to go down the big hill, and hiked clear up it and went down that a few times too.  James was equally as excited, and he even went down the big hill with Shane once, and he loved going down the little hills and being pulled in the sled.  Davis was the only one not as interested in sledding.  He went down once, and we couldn’t convince him to do it again.  He still had a ton of fun playing in the snow and pulling around a sled behind him.

It started snowing pretty good towards the end, but we still had a lot of fun.  We’ll have to go again when we can stay a little longer!

Davis’s 4th Birthday

Today, Davis turned four years old.  I can’t believe how fast the time flies by!  I know everyone says that, but it is so true.  It seems like just yesterday the “little” 11-pounder was born.  Davis is a silly, loving, fun boy, and he adds such a fun personality to our home.  He loves to be silly, and if anyone is sad, he tries his best to cheer them up.  He likes to run fast and jump high.  He loves to read books, and he also is still a great napper.  He brings out a pile of books, his blankets, his dog, and whatever seems to be the toy of the day and lies on the floor while I work (or rest) on the couch next to him during nap time.  He is my buddy during the day while Landon is at school, and he asks all day long when it is time for Landon’s bus to come home.   Like his older brother, he likes to read, and is getting pretty good at blending three-letter combinations, and we have fun making up rhyming and other silly words.  He is nice to others.  His longtime friend Eve told her mom last week that she is going to marry Davis because he is so nice to her . . . and he is!  He is still a big fan of anything Cars, and now Mario too.  His favorite is actually Luigi, whom he calls “Buigi.” 

 

Due to his “Buigi” love, he wanted to have a “Buigi” and Mario birthday party.  It was fun to plan.  I made Mario or Luigi hats for the boys, and got Princess Peach crowns for the girls, and we had some fun games of Super Mario memory, ghost freeze, Hot Bob-omb (like hot potato), jump on the mushroom, and a pinata shaped like a question mark block.

After the party, we got some pizza and Kelly came over for dinner and to open the family birthday presents.

Davis then opened a balance bike and a race track from Mom and Dad.  Landon was cute and took some money to school from his piggy bank and bought Davis a little bear from his student store.  He didn’t tell us he was going to do that, so it was a nice surprise that he bought something fun for his brother.  Davis also opened a fun wall racetrack from Grandma and Grandpa Morris later, so we’ll have to get some pictures of that on here tomorrow.

Valentine’s Mailbox and Snuggling with Dad

We had a usual Saturday today with a list of things to do, but not too much scheduled.  Landon had fun when he got up decorating the Valentine’s mailbox that Grandma Morris sent him.

 

Shane was gone most of the morning at the Worldwide Leadership Training.  James always like to see his dad, and wanted to cuddle with his dad (and his dog) for a minute when he woke up from his nap this afternoon.
